Canon G10 - My New Point-n-Shoot

I recently upgraded my point-n-shoot camera.  For years I have been using a Canon Power Shot S2 IS.  It's been an excellent camera but it was time to upgrade.  One thing I will miss is the 6 - 72mm 12x optical zoom lens.  Overall I think the G10 lens is better and the processor is certainly more advanced.  The G10 is also less bulky and can be carried in a pocket.  I'm still testing it out and trying to learn all the new features that this camera offers.

Two of the biggest features for me is the ability to shoot in RAW and the near tripling of the mega pixels from 5 to 14.7.   Now I don't really need 14.7 mpx, 10 to 12 would have been just fine but I won't complain.  I am counting on the technology in this camera to still be relevant in 5 years.  I believe I picked up the S2 towards the end of 2003.  It still works the same as it did the day I bought it.  Unfortunately my needs in a camera have changed since then.  Now I find that I need a SLR and a high quality point-n-shoot.  Having a point-n-shoot that I can carry all the time allows more spontaneity and creativity in my photography.  Just the other day as I was on my way to friends for dinner I saw something that caught my eye.  I was able to pull over and get a few shots.  This is the one I liked the best.

I like the way the shadows interact with the vibrant colors of the children's mural outside the playground.
